There is a population known to grow near the northern west coast of New Zealand’s South Island, which may or may not belong to this species, it is up to now tag-named as Gentianella aff. saxosa “Charleston”. [1]

New Zealand: Chatham Island, Pitt Island (Chatham Islands); North Island

This species is split into two subspecies, the nominate race is restricted to the Chatham Islands (Chatham Island, Pitt Island), while the other subspecies, ssp. nemorosa Glenny, is endemic to New Zealand’s North Island.
